Chalk Challenge #69

The winner from Challenge #68 will be posted later on today since I am out of town with no internet for the last few days I wanted to give everyone every chance they could to get their projects linked up.

Challenge #69 is

Birthday with chalk

I made a card using Stamp N Plus Stardust chalk mixed with their paint to create this ombre' looking background. See below for the tutorial.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. The prize this week is this stamp set from myStamp Box:

Tutorial:

I inked The Crafter's Workshop stencil with these three distress inks by Ranger Industries.

This just shows the way I tape the stencil down with painter's tape that I stole from my husband's barn. The paper I use is watercolor paper by Strathmore. In retrospect watercolor paper is not necessary for this process. I just didn't know where I was going when I started.

Then I mix the Stardust powdered chalk with paint in this little tray and use a Ranger Industries ink blender tool to add it to the stencil.

Here's the shimmer you get from the Stardust powdered chalk mixed with Stamp N Plus paint. Love it!

Thanks for looking.

Challenge 67 continues

Welcome to week 2 of our challenge

Green with Chalk

You can link up

I made this card using a metal stencil with white embossing paste and let it dry completely. Then I took powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus colors Teddy Bear (brown), Lime (green), and Dandy (yellow) mixed with water and a paint brush to paint the colors onto the raised surface. I had die cut the image and that shape didn't fit with the patterned paper scrap that I had so I cut off the sides of the die cut and distressed them with scissors and then distress ink. I add some pearls by Want 2 Scrap to the edges of the die cut and then on the sentiment to make my visual triangle.

The patterned paper is by Scribble Scrabble that I distressed the edges with distress ink by Ranger. The yellow cardstock is unknown but I do know that it is embossed with a Gina Marie embossing folder called Victorian Lace. The sentiment stamp is by Gina Marie Stamps on Great Bible quotes stamp set

Thanks for looking.

Challenge #67

Hi and welcome back to the Chalk Ah Lot blog. Our winner from the last challenge (#66) is

Contact me, Cindy, at groh at gmail dot com with your mailing address and I will send out your prize. Congrats on the win.

Our new challenge (#67) is

The color Green with Chalk

It can be any amount great or small. All I ask that it be green and not a blueish green like teal or aqua. If it's a small amount of green like such as small the green leaves in a patterned paper, can you please tell me where your green is in your post? That would be awesome but is totally not mandatory.

The prize this time around is a tree pack of embossed borders by Darice.

My card is really green but please don't feel yours has to have this much green because it doesn't. I mixed Lime powdered chalk with paint both by Stamp N Plus and painted the mixture onto one side of this fern embossing folder. I ran the folder and paper through the Cuttlebug and ended up with this pretty background.

For a close up of the card please visit my blog:

The prize stencil is :

Finally got my card photographed and uploaded. I applied white embossing paste onto the Large Poinsettia stencil and let it dry completely. The next day I used my first used an old makeup brush to apply Stamp N Plus Silver {Glitzy} powdered chalk to the center of the flower. It was at that point I realized that there was still some blush on the brush. {Ugh-Are you kidding me?} So I applied Stardust powdered chalk to the whole poinsettia with my finger to maybe cover up the blush {yea right} and to give it some major sparkle. Then I took my Zig glue pen and applied glue to the inside of the flower followed by sprinkling white glitter over top. After shaking off the excess glitter, I was really happy with how it looked and applied a little bit more.

Check out my BLOG for more on my card.

Challenge 64

I'm gone for the weekend and wanted to give people the remaining time to link up their projects. I will return on Tuesday and post the winner then. Sorry for the delay. {No wifi up north.}

This week at Chalk Ah Lot our challenge is

The challenge will run for its normal two weeks and the limit is 3 projects per person.

My card features 4+ die cuts; black behind strawberry, red behind strawberry, green, and the sentiment is layered die cuts by Cricut.

I used a strawberry stamp by Stamp N Plus to make my focal image. I used powdered chalk mixed with paint also by Stamp N Plus as my ink to stamp the strawberry. I show how to do this in a Tutorial.

 Thanks for looking.

Chalk Ah Lot #63 Continues...

We are on our way with challenge #63 which

Anything goes with chalk

It's a month long challenge ending on Saturday, August 30th at noon EST

Click

HERE

to link up your chalk project

For my card today I combined powdered chalk with paint and used the mixture to paint in this stamped image. You can find powdered chalk HERE and the paint I used HERE. Once I mix the two together I use a paint brush to apply it to my image. I used watercolor paper for this card but have decided it's not necessary for this technique. The mixture doesn't really get wet enough to use the paper as it was intended.

 Thanks for looking.

Challenge #63

Thank you to everyone that joined in our last challenge. The winner is pick by Random.org is

Please email me-I think you know my email:)

So our new challenge is going to be

Anything goes with chalk

Month long challenge-I will close this August challenge at Noon EST on Saturday, August 30 and start Challenge 64 on Aug 31st. At that time we will go back to fortnightly challenges.

For the month of August please limit your links to 5 entries

This challenge will be sponsored by me and this month I have

THIS stamp set up for grabs.

I made my card using paint mixed with Stamp N Plus Stardust chalk and also their paint. Stunning look with this combination. Take a look.

I applied the mixture to a piece of thin patterned paper. Not much of a pattern but thin paper

As you can see the mixture makes the paper distort until....

I run it through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder. Isn't that a gorgeous looking background. **I don't even want to put things on it.

I finished the card off with minimal pieces to keep the person holding the card looking at the sparkle in the background. Please check out my BLOG for more photos, links, and directions on my card.

Challenge 62 Last week

This is the last week for our July challenge

Anything goes with chalk

For my card this week I used the digi image Anime Hockey by Kenny K. I dry embossed the background patterned paper then applied red powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus with a cosmetic wedge. This chalk won't rub away and does not need to be sprayed for it to stay on the card.

Check out more about my card on my BLOG

Challenge 62 Continues...

Welcome to week 3 of the Chalk Ah Lot challenge of

Anything goes with chalk

Link up your chalk creation

HERE

 Sponsored by Kenny K

You can find their shop

I am using the Jasmine digi for my card. My chalk is in the background. I had some left over powdered chalk mixed with paint by Stamp N Plus from another project and decided to try it on the embossing folder. I took a paint brush and applied the mixture to one side of the folder then ran it through my Cuttlebug. Once it was out of the folder I sprayed it with a little water mixed with Perfect Pearls and let it dry. I used watercolor paper by Stratmore which I think gives good results.

Challenge 62 Continues on...

WOW! You ladies are on it this month! We've already got 15 links to the July challenge. You have no idea how happy that makes me. Thank you:)

So as you know July's challenge is:

Anything goes with chalk

and you can link up

Our fabulous sponsor this month is

You can find all Kenny K Downloads

Please show our sponsor some love because if you use a Kenny K stamp/image (Not just a sentiment) you can enter twice. This twice will only count as one entry out of the five you can link up for the month. When you go to link up your chalk project do the first one to your blog post and the second one to your blog. If you have more than one entry using a Kenny K image then you will need to email your card to me at grohcm at gmail dot com and I will hook you up:) If you have any questions you can direct them to my email as well and I will do my best to answer you.

So I have a little chalk demo today using Stardust powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus. Love this stuff. I combined it with paint and applied it over a stencil. Check it out.

I masked off my patterned paper with painters tape. Plus secured it to my craft mat.

I taped this Tim Holtz stencil to the mat and over the cardstock.

I scooped out some Stardust powdered chalk and placed it in my tray.

This is how much paint I used to mix in with the powdered chalk.

Here's what it looks like after it is mixed.

I used my Tim Holtz ink blender with a new sponge to dab and apply the mixture. The stencil is taped down really well and therefore I could make little circles with the applicator when applying.

All finished. Check out the shine.

Another view of the shine, kind of sparkly.

Here it is after I removed the tape. Painters tape works well because it doesn't rip your paper if you remove slowly and carefully.

Then here's my card using the Kenny K image "Happy Hour".

Here it is a little bit closer.

Hope you liked the demo and thanks for stopping by.

Chalk-Ah-Lot Challenge #62

Welcome to month 2, how is that even possible, of summer month long challenges. Thanks to the Sassy Studio Designs for sponsoring Junes challenge. Chalk-Ah-Lot loves your images and appreciates the sponsorship.

The winner for last month by Random.org is
#11

Please email me, Cindy, grohcm at gmail dot com with your four choices of Sassy Studio Designs images.

So this month we are sponsored by my favorite digi company not only for their images but for their kindness. They have always been so supportive and encouraging to me and for quite some time now. I'm so excited to show you the chalk creations I've made with their images.

Our July sponsor is Kenny K!!

Here's a little something about KennyK!

Digi and clear stamps from KennyK are a fun and edgy way to add the perfect dose of attitude and style to all of your creations! KennyK is a NYC-born professional illustrator who's signature style can be seen throughout his various collections of sexy pinup babes, sweet 'n sassy girls, cool rockin' dudes, kid’s stuff, retro characters and more at KennyKDownloads.com.

Our theme for July is

Anything goes with chalk

**I wanted to add that if you use any of the sponsors images (not just sentiments) you should enter twice. The first time link up with your blog post and the second time just to your blog. This will only be considered 1 entry. Questions? Leave me a comment or shoot me an email. (see above)**

My card features Jasmine  from the Kenny K line. My chalk is actually the background of dots you see to our left. It is a Crafters Worshop stencil (size 6x6) that I used a Q-Tip and powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus to create. I love using stencils with the powdered chalk but really any chalk would work well.

So that's all for now. You may see another project with Kenny K and chalk on Sunday so as you link up take a look and tell me what you think.

My card is sitting right next to me but my camera is up north already waiting for me to join it and all my other crafty supplies at our cottage. I didn't put together that yesterday was the first of the month and I needed to post on here. I've been posting on Sundays for two years on the Chalk Ah Lot blog. So this month long challenge thing is throwing me off my game a little. I'm going to try and work some magic with my Ipad but it is nasty outside right now so I may not get my card up tonight. But that shouldn't stop you from linking up.

I look forward to seeing your creations.
