Challenge 62 Continues...

Welcome to week 3 of the Chalk Ah Lot challenge of

Anything goes with chalk

Link up your chalk creation

HERE

 Sponsored by Kenny K

You can find their shop

I am using the Jasmine digi for my card. My chalk is in the background. I had some left over powdered chalk mixed with paint by Stamp N Plus from another project and decided to try it on the embossing folder. I took a paint brush and applied the mixture to one side of the folder then ran it through my Cuttlebug. Once it was out of the folder I sprayed it with a little water mixed with Perfect Pearls and let it dry. I used watercolor paper by Stratmore which I think gives good results.

Challenge 62 Continues on...

WOW! You ladies are on it this month! We've already got 15 links to the July challenge. You have no idea how happy that makes me. Thank you:)

So as you know July's challenge is:

Anything goes with chalk

and you can link up

Our fabulous sponsor this month is

You can find all Kenny K Downloads

Please show our sponsor some love because if you use a Kenny K stamp/image (Not just a sentiment) you can enter twice. This twice will only count as one entry out of the five you can link up for the month. When you go to link up your chalk project do the first one to your blog post and the second one to your blog. If you have more than one entry using a Kenny K image then you will need to email your card to me at grohcm at gmail dot com and I will hook you up:) If you have any questions you can direct them to my email as well and I will do my best to answer you.

So I have a little chalk demo today using Stardust powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus. Love this stuff. I combined it with paint and applied it over a stencil. Check it out.

I masked off my patterned paper with painters tape. Plus secured it to my craft mat.

I taped this Tim Holtz stencil to the mat and over the cardstock.

I scooped out some Stardust powdered chalk and placed it in my tray.

This is how much paint I used to mix in with the powdered chalk.

Here's what it looks like after it is mixed.

I used my Tim Holtz ink blender with a new sponge to dab and apply the mixture. The stencil is taped down really well and therefore I could make little circles with the applicator when applying.

All finished. Check out the shine.

Another view of the shine, kind of sparkly.

Here it is after I removed the tape. Painters tape works well because it doesn't rip your paper if you remove slowly and carefully.

Then here's my card using the Kenny K image "Happy Hour".

Here it is a little bit closer.

Hope you liked the demo and thanks for stopping by.

Chalk-Ah-Lot Challenge #62

Welcome to month 2, how is that even possible, of summer month long challenges. Thanks to the Sassy Studio Designs for sponsoring Junes challenge. Chalk-Ah-Lot loves your images and appreciates the sponsorship.

The winner for last month by Random.org is
#11

Please email me, Cindy, grohcm at gmail dot com with your four choices of Sassy Studio Designs images.

So this month we are sponsored by favorite digi company not only for their images but for their kindness. They have always been so supportive and encouraging to me for quite some time now. I'm so excited to show you the chalk creations I've made with their images.

Our July sponsor is Kenny K

Here's a little something about KennyK!

Digi and clear stamps from KennyK are a fun and edgy way to add the perfect dose of attitude and style to all of your creations! KennyK is a NYC-born professional illustrator who's signature style can be seen throughout his various collections of sexy pinup babes, sweet 'n sassy girls, cool rockin' dudes, kid’s stuff, retro characters and more at KennyKDownloads.com.

Our theme for July is

Anything goes with chalk

**I wanted to add that if you use any of the sponsors images (not just sentiments) you should enter twice. The first time link up with your blog post and the second time just to your blog. This will only be considered 1 entry. Questions? Leave me a comment or shoot me an email. (see above)**

My card features Jasmine  from the Kenny K line. My chalk is actually the background of dots you see to our left. It is a Crafters Worshop stencil (size 6x6) that I used a Q-Tip and powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus to create. I love using stencils with the powdered chalk but really any chalk would work well.

So that's all for now. You may see another project with Kenny K and chalk on Sunday so as you link up take a look and tell me what you think.

My card is sitting right next to me but my camera is up north already waiting for me to join it and all my other crafty supplies at our cottage. I didn't put together that yesterday was the first of the month and I needed to post on here. I've been posting on Sundays for two years on the Chalk Ah Lot blog. So this month long challenge thing is throwing me off my game a little. I'm going to try and work some magic with my Ipad but it is nasty outside right now so I may not get my card up tonight. But that shouldn't stop you from linking up.

I look forward to seeing your creations.

Anything goes with chalk week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of
Anything goes with chalk

Click HERE to link up your chalk project for the June challenge

Our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs. You'll want to stop by their store because they are discontinuing some images. They are only available until June 13th, which is right around the corner. The also just had a new release that you'll want to check out. Both things that I just mentioned can be found on the home page of the store. Click HERE to see more.

The image I used is Lager Pin-Up Sassy {She is near the bottom of the page}and is layered onto a Paper Accents chipboard shape that I covered with Gem powdered chalk mixed with paint. Both of those products are by Stamp N Plus. The background cardstock is by Stampin Up. It is greyish with flecks throughout. I used a Tim Holtz stencil with Lime powdered chalk mixed with paint and used a stipple brush to apply the mixture. I love that it dries so quickly. By the time I cleaned the stencil and my brush the paper was ready to be worked on.

So I hope you will join us for this months challenge. If you would like to see more of my card such as close ups and other directions/products that I used then please stop by my blog.

Challenge #60

Welcome back to Chalk Ah Lot. Thank you to everyone that joined in our last challenge and our winner for challenge #59 is

Please email me Cindy to claim your prize at grohcmat gmail dot com. I know Dorothy won last time but in I've always used Random.Org to pick the winner and think it would be unfair to stray from that policy.

Our new chalk challenge (#60) is in honor of Tuesday's Earth Day.

Re-purpose or use a recycled item not used for crafting in your craft project with chalk

For my project I re-purposed/recycled the clear CD's that come in the multi pack of CD's that my department orders to burn a patient's images.

I used red powdered chalk by Stamp N Plus on the heart in I heart USA. As you can see the base of each pennant is a clear CD. I layered on top of each one a red circle that I got for a deal at a SB-ink show years ago. The ribbon in the middle of each red circle is real live vintage from the hubby's grandmother's collection.

Challenge #58 Anything Goes w Chalk

Our winner to challenge #57 (Stencil(s) with chalk) is

Congratulations! Email me Cindy your home address at grohcm at gmail dot com before the next challenge is posted 4/6/14.

Our new challenge #58 is

Anything goes with Chalk

Please help me spread the word about this challenge (by keeping our number of contestants in the double digits) so we can continue to keep this challenge going with our wonderful sponsor Stamp N Plus. Our sponsor provides a prize of two powdered chalks for US and Canadian residents and two stamps to our international chalk friends. We've found that the powdered chalk doesn't always make it through customs and have to change our international prize policy to stop wasteful attempts and delays. I hope you will understand.
I did a test and had the owner send overseas twice and the packages never arrived. So I sent a prize package to the same address with some papers pads, stencils, ribbon and card bases and the winner received the package in like record time. I guess I can see why customs might question the powdery substance but we haven't had the problem before this last Christmas season. The whole thing is kind of odd.

Anyway, for my card today I feel like I've done this one a hundred times but I so love the way it turns out so I keep going back to it. I mixed DandySunshine  and Lime powdered chalk separately with paint also by Stamp N Plus and using a paint brush I paint the colors onto the dry embossing. I do this on to white cardstock and then for this one I cut around the flowers and backed it with sky blue paper. The ribbon is from my stash, the sentiment is a dry embossing folder by Cuttlebug and the brad is by Making Memories.

For my next card I tried something a little bit different. The sentiment die cut is a Cricut die cut from the Storybook cartridge and I covered it with Versa Mark ink. Then I poured Glitzy powdered chalk on top of it and there I had a glittery sentiment. The one thing I didn't care for was the color of the die cut. My Cricut is fussy and will cut when she wants not when I want. After many attempts to re-cut this die cut at this small of a size but in white and not a cream I gave up out of pure frustration. So I think this would be a great technique to try again some time when I have multiple dies at my disposal. Lol.

The castle stamp is also sold by Stamp N Plus and can be found HERE

Now get busy on those chalk creations and link up below.
Best Wishes

Challenge 57 continues...

Challenge 57 continues with

Stencil (s) and chalk

Link up

My card below uses Special Day Stamp by Stamp N Plus and Dandy powdered chalk and paint also by Stamp N Plus.

I mixed the powdered chalk with the paint and applied it to the stenciled area with a cosmetic wedge. It's a little light in places but I kind of liked it that way. The stencil is by The Crafter's Workshop. With the left over chalk/paint mixture I covered the piece of cardstock that is behind the star panel.

If you would like to read more about my card or see close up pictures, please visit my blog

Thanks for looking and thank you to Stamp N Plus for sponsoring our challenge.

Chalk Ah Lot Challenge 57

Let's get right into this party!

Winner for challenge #56 Rainbow with chalk is

Email me Cindy at grohcm at gmail dot com to claim your prize.

Our new fortnightly challenge #57 is

Use a stencil
and
Chalk
you must include chalk somewhere on your creation and tell me where in your blog post.

So stencils are all the rage these days and for very good reasons. You can use many different mediums on stencils and get a variety of looks from each. Since this is a chalk blog I used my powdered chalk and paint from our sponsor Stamp N Plus. The owner, Luann, sells a fabulous line of

&

For my card I used Dandy colored powdered chalk mixed with paint by Stamp N Plus. I really like the SNP paint because it is more fluid and it has a sparkle shimmery to it. The powdered chalk mixes smoothly with SNP paint which I love to paint in just about anything and everything.

To get the details on my card please stop by my blog

Thanks for stopping by.

Challenge #56 Continues

Here I am again for the Chalk Ah Lot challenge blog with a mid way reminder for the

Rainbow with chalk challenge

Link Up

I made this card the same time as the first one I shared with you right HERE. I do love the outcome of both of them with their ROY G BIV colors. The die cut in vellum is by Spellbinders and The Paper Studio respectively. I heat embossed the birthday sentiment by Stamp N Plus in black and then added two rhinestones to the holes of the die cut. The glitter tape is by Recollections as well as the card base.

You can find all these chalk colors and more at Stamp N Plus's Powdered Chalk website HERE. Thanks for looking.

Challenge #56

Our Chalk ah Lot winner from the last challenge is Melissa Sunshine Honey Bee. Please email me at grohcm at gmail dot com.

Our new challenge is

Rainbow with chalk

This could be a rainbow paper or embellishment or like I did with rainbow chalk. Also it doesn't have to be the full rainbow of ROY G BIV it could be a shortened version of the colors. I'm not really that picky but you must include chalk on your project and tell me where.

My card features multiple powdered chalk colors from Stamp N Plus. I had fun making this card. So fun yet so simple to make.

Chalk Ah Lot Challenge #55

Thanks to everyone that joined us in for challenge #54. Our random.org winner is

Emily please email me, Cindy, at grohcm at gmail dot com by the start of the next challenge to claim your prize. I will need your mailing address, please.

Challenge # 55 is

Base your project on an Olympic symbol with chalk

I found THIS on Wikipedia and the first sentence says,

"The Olympic symbols are icons, flags and symbols used by the International Olympic Committee to promote the Olympic Games. Some - such as the flame, fanfare, and theme - are more common during Olympic competition, but others, such as the flag, can be seen throughout the year."

So I finished my card which I based on the Olympic Rings by punching out circles to make thin lined rings and used them as a mask for my background. I applied Sky blue powdered chalk mixed with paint both from Stamp N Plus over the rings and removed them when I was finished. I think if I were to do this again I would use two things, 1.) dedicated masking paper (I usually reach for the Inkadinkado masking paper) and 2.) I wouldn't apply the mixture with a paint brush because the strokes back and forth allowed the mix to get under my rings making them not so obvious in certain areas. If you would like to read more about my card please visit my blog at cre8ivecindy.blogspot.com

If the symbol of your card is not obvious, like my rings aren't super obvious, please tell me in your blog post what your Olympic symbol is.

Challenge #54

Winner of challenge #53 is

Dawn email me,Cindy at grohcm at gmail dot com to claim your prize before Challenge #55 starts.

The new challenge here at Chalk-Ah-Lot where we play with chalk is

Love with chalk
So wedding, Valentine, Anniversary, Engagement and so on

I made a 4x4 pocket card for my MIL's picture book we are working on. We are using We R Memory Keepers photo sleeves for her 1970's square pictures and for this insert I used chalk on the border. I was coloring in another image using Beauty powdered chalk mixed with paint both by Stamp N Plus and had some left over. Using a wide paint brush I completely covered the border cardstock (CS-Bazzill and Border-EK Success) with the chalked mixture. The chalk has a great streaking affect that adds so much to the plain cardstock.

Try it-you will like it. Here's the website -

Challenge 53 continues

Hi all. Welcome back to the second week of challenge 53, which is:

Showcase an animal on your project while using chalk

You can link up your projects

Stamp N Plus is the sponsor of our chalk challenge blog.

For my card I stamped a Christmas kitten stamp, which can be found HERE, onto white cardstock and then colored him in with powdered chalk mixed with water. It's the perfect medium to color in images and no need to spray a fixative. because the powdered chalk stays on the image. I also used the same mixture to place splotches of the flesh colored chalk on the white cardstock around the image. The sentiment stamp also by Stamp N Plus and can be found HERE.

For the rest of my card I invite you to stop by my BLOG. I would love it if you would say hello.

Thank you to our sponsor Stamp N Plus.
